We're rich in culture and a very loving people.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED?
Johannesburg in a local underprivileged community called Eldorado Park next to Soweto.
WHAT WERE YOUR CHILDHOOD ASPIRATIONS?
I had a great interest in being a chef, and study law.
WHEN DID YOU GET INTO CAR SPINNING?
I started two years ago, my dad’s friend asked him if he could teach me how to spin. I tried it for the first time and the rest is history. They also needed a female to remove the stigma of it being a gangster thing and to give spinning a new look by letting me spin. It changed a lot of peoples views, and more women and children love spinning now.
HOW DID YOU ACQUIRE THE SKILL?
I think I was born with this skill, 'cause everytime I spin I just try new things to impress the crowd.
WHAT ARE THE TECHNICAL CHALLENGES AND THE LEVEL OF DANGER INVOLVED?
Well you need to be alert all the time. Your own car can kill you when you jump out a moving car or hang upside down at a speed of about 80 km/h.
WHY ARE THE CARS SPECIFICALLY OF THE BMW 325 SERIES?
It’s a strong car. And you need to have a rear wheel drive for it to spin. The BMW is just perfect for the job.
HOW MANY GIRLS ARE INVOLVED IN THIS EXTREME SPORT AND DO YOU FIND YOURSELF HAVING TO DEFEND YOUR TURF?
We're only four girls. I'm currently the only one in Johannesburg.
DO THE GUYS GET INTIMIDATED BY YOU?
Yes, all the time. Some of them ask me if I'm a real woman.
WHAT OR WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOU THE MOST?
My dad his always giving me new challenges, and also the kids in my community to show them that it doesn't matter how you start but how you finish. My community has a high rate of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy. I want to show our young ladies that life has more to offer than our current situation. The sky is not the limit.
WHAT OTHER PASSIONS DO YOU HAVE AND HOW DO YOU UNWIND? I love cooking and spending time with my family and boyfriend.
WHAT'S YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE AND HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
I don’t have any routine. I love pink and I'm girly. But my makeup is just lip gloss and I'm done and ready to roll.
WHAT’S NEXT?
I want to be a race car driver one day, Formula 1, and be a stunt driver in movies.
CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT THE ADRENALINE RUSH?
I didn’t think about that.
